About this scholarship
Open to current law students at Equal Justice Works member law schools who have completed at least one year of law school before the summer placement. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents. Some host sites require a valid driver's license and transportation.
Selected fellows receive a $7,000 stipend for completing 300 hours of service over eight to ten weeks at a rural Legal Services Corporation host site. Fellows attend a virtual two-day training before service begins.
Applicants submit a resume and personal statement, ranking their top three host organizations. Applications are evaluated after the spring deadline; interviews and offers follow on a rolling basis. The 2027 program runs May through August 2027.
Equal Justice Works and the Legal Services Corporation partner to place law students in rural legal aid organizations serving communities with limited access to counsel.
