About this scholarship
Iowa students with a high school diploma or GED may apply for cash support toward university, college, or trade school study. Applications are open to all students, with preference for Black students continuing Mary E. Wood's anti-racism legacy. Award amounts vary by year and fund earnings. Apply online through the foundation's JotForm; recipients are notified in July. The annual deadline is May 1. Mary E. Wood was a Des Moines civil-rights leader and the first Black woman executive director of a metropolitan YWCA in the United States.
