About this scholarship
Second- or third-year law students enrolled at a New York State law school who demonstrate academic excellence, public service, high integrity, and interest in real property law may apply. The scholarship honors former NYSBA President Lorraine Power Tharp.
The New York Bar Foundation awards a $7,500 scholarship annually to a student exemplifying Tharp's commitment to gender equality and diversity in the profession. Financial need is considered.
Applications open in fall and are due in late December via email to The New York Bar Foundation with cover letter, resume, transcript, two recommendations, and a two-page essay. Awards are announced in January.
The Real Property Law Section funds this scholarship through The New York Bar Foundation alongside other section memorial awards.
