About this scholarship
Second-year law students enrolled at a New York State law school may apply for this $5,000 scholarship recognizing excellence in legal writing and advocacy. The award is funded by Meyer Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C. and administered by The New York Bar Foundation.
One scholarship is awarded annually based on a blind review of submitted legal writing demonstrating technical skill, critical thinking, and advocacy.
Applications are submitted through The New York Bar Foundation with an essay on a legal topic; the annual deadline is typically mid-April. The 2025 recipient was a CUNY School of Law 2L.
The scholarship was established in 2004 in memory of Judge Bernard S. Meyer, former Associate Judge of the New York Court of Appeals.
