About this scholarship
High school seniors who are children of active Iron Workers members with five or more years of continuous service (or deceased members in good standing) may compete. Winners attend any accredited U.S. or Canadian college or university in a full-time degree program.
The program awards up to 18 four-year renewable scholarships plus several one-time $500 awards, depending on annual funding. Over $4 million has been awarded since 1968.
Apply electronically by May 30 each year. Competitive selection weighs academic standing, test scores (U.S. students), extracurricular leadership, and character references. Secondary school report, transcript, and recommendation follow initial submission.
The John H. Lyons Sr. Scholarship Foundation has supported ironworker members' children attending colleges and universities across North America since 1968.
