About this scholarship
First-generation high school seniors entering their first year of undergraduate study at a U.S. college or university in fall 2026 may apply. First-generation means neither parent nor guardian completed a bachelor's degree.
One scholar receives $5,000 paid directly via ACH, PayPal, or check. Recipients submit annual progress reports during undergraduate study.
The online application requires a short biography, transcript, experience summaries, one 500-word essay, two short answers, and two reference contacts (not letters). Deadline is May 22 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates administers this national award to support first-generation APA students; the scholarship is named for donors Joe and Loanne Chiu.
