Humboldt Research Fellowship

Postdoctoral and experienced researchers from all countries except Germany may conduct independent research at a German host institution of their choice. US and Canadian citizens qualify if they have not lived in Germany more than 90 days in the prior 18 months.

Postdoc fellows receive €3,000 per month for 6 to 24 months (splittable across up to three stays within three years); experienced researchers receive €3,600 per month for 6 to 18 months. Additional family, mobility, and health insurance benefits apply.

Apply online to the Humboldt Foundation during one of three annual calls opening March 15, July 15, or November 15, eight months before selection meetings. Each call closes after 800 applications.
