Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship

The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship is open to all nationalities, including US and Canadian students, for bottom-up research master's or PhD study at eligible Irish research bodies. The 2026 call targets new entrants or first-year registered students on the funded degree.

Awards provide up to €34,000 per year comprising a €25,000 stipend, up to €5,750 fee contribution (with an extra €4,000 fee top-up available for some non-EU nationals), and €3,250 in eligible direct research costs.

Apply through the Research Ireland online system by late October with supervisor and research-office endorsements following shortly after. The 2026 applicant deadline was 23 October 2025; award starts 1 September 2026.
