About this scholarship
Non-Korean citizens from countries with Korean embassy quotas, including the US and Canada, may apply for degree study at designated Korean universities through embassy or university tracks. Graduate applicants must be under 40 with a bachelor's or master's degree and at least 80% GPA.
Benefits include full tuition (up to KRW 5 million per semester), Korean language training fees where applicable, a settlement allowance, round-trip airfare, and a monthly living allowance of KRW 1,380,000 for master's and doctoral students (higher for research programs). TOPIK level 5-6 holders may receive an extra KRW 100,000 monthly.
Embassy-track graduate applications are accepted each February through the Study in Korea portal and local Korean embassies; university-track deadlines vary. Results are announced by June.
NIIED administers GKS on behalf of the Korean Ministry of Education to attract international students to Korean higher education.
