About this scholarship
Rising second- and third-year law students at accredited U.S. law schools may apply for a 10-week full-time summer placement at a Florida nonprofit civil legal aid organization. Students are matched with hosts based on mutual preferences and must attend a mandatory May orientation.
Each fellow receives a $9,000 stipend paid through the host organization; FFLA also covers payroll taxes. The program placed 47 fellows for summer 2026 across Florida legal aid grantees.
Student applications open in October and are due in November, with offers made December through January; the Summer 2027 application opens October 1, 2026. Host organizations must serve low-income Floridians and provide supervised client-facing work.
FFLA is a statewide 501(c)(3) that funds civil legal aid and has run this summer fellowship program since 1995.
