About this scholarship
Dental students, residents, dentists in graduate training, and early-career dentists within ten years of graduation may apply. Applicants must show leadership advancing the profession through community engagement, service, or oral public health; ADA membership is not required.
The award provides $5,000 for tuition, fees, travel, meals, and lodging to attend an American Management Association leadership program or a comparable course pre-approved by the ADA Foundation.
Applications are submitted online when the annual cycle opens on the ADA Foundation awards page; the cycle was closed as of July 2026 with a 2025 recipient announced.
Named for Dr. David Whiston and administered by the ADA Foundation to develop dental leadership.
