AWSM Scholars Program

Female college students who have completed at least one year of study (sophomores and above, including graduate students) and hold AWSM student membership may apply for paid summer internships in sports writing, broadcast production, social media, or media relations.

Each scholar receives a $1,250 scholarship, a one-year AWSM membership, and conference registration. Named donor scholarships (Founders, Garber/APSE, Brennan, etc.) are assigned among winners.

Applications typically open in fall and close in late December; the 2026 class was selected in spring 2026.

AWSM has placed more than 200 women in sports media internships since 1990.
