About this scholarship
First-, second-, and third-year U.S. medical students and first- and second-year medical residents may apply for short hematology research projects. Research may run up to three summer months or span three to twelve months depending on the project plan.
Awardees receive a $5,000 honorarium plus $1,000 per year for two years toward travel to the ASH annual meeting. Recipients attend orientation and career development events at the meeting.
Applications open September 1 and close February 2 each year; 2026 notification is in May. The page listed a February 2, 2026 deadline that had passed by July 2026.
The American Society of Hematology offers HONORS (Hematology Opportunities for the Next Generation of Research Scientists) to cultivate future hematology researchers.
