AMS Senior Named Scholarships

Juniors entering their final undergraduate year in fall 2026 may apply for one of roughly 21 donor-named AMS senior scholarships. Applicants must pursue atmospheric, oceanic, or hydrologic sciences at an accredited U.S. institution, hold at least a 3.0 GPA, and be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Awards range from $2,000 to $10,000 for the upcoming academic year. AMS encourages applications from women, minorities, and students with disabilities.

Applications are submitted online through the AMS scholarships portal with references, transcripts, and a personal statement describing achievements and career goals. The 2026 cycle closed April 1, 2026; the program recurs annually.

AMS administers these named scholarships on behalf of members who established funds to honor individuals or loved ones in the atmospheric and related sciences.
