The fund grants $15,000 per recipient, distributed over three years of law school. The ABA awards 20 to 25 scholarships annually to support students committed to building a more diverse legal profession.
The application portal opens February 1 and closes April 15 each year at 11:59 PM Central Time. The 2027 cycle for Fall 2027 entrants opens February 1, 2027.
Established by the ABA's diversity pipeline initiatives, the Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund has supported more than 400 law students since inception.
