Visual Artists Creation Projects — Emerging

Professional emerging visual artists who are Ontario residents and have at least three years of public presentation of their work may apply. Full-time undergraduate and graduate students are ineligible. Collaborative teams may apply if all members meet category criteria.

Emerging artists receive a flat $5,000 grant (partial grants are not awarded) toward materials, studio rental, artist fees, and other direct creation costs for a new visual arts project.

Deadlines are May 13 and November 3 each year at 1 p.m. ET, submitted through the Nova online system. Results arrive about four and a half months after each deadline.

The Ontario Arts Council funds this program to support new work by emerging visual artists across painting, sculpture, installation, photography, performance art, and electronic media practices.
