About this scholarship
Open to Canadian citizens who have graduated from an approved Canadian law school or are in their final year of law school at the time of application. Candidates must have applied for graduate legal studies at an approved university before submitting the fellowship application. Those who have already begun postgraduate studies may apply if at least one year remains.
The fellowship provides $25,000 for post-graduate legal studies at an approved university. A second fellowship may be awarded at the committee's discretion depending on available funds.
Applications are due annually by November 16 (shifting to the following Tuesday if November 16 falls on a weekend). Submit the official application form with attachments to viscount-vicomte@cba.org or by mail. Winners are announced by June 30.
Established in 1943 by former Prime Minister and CBA President Viscount Richard Bedford Bennett, the fellowship has supported Canadian legal scholars since 1946.
