Eligibility
About this scholarship
Open to full-time students at Canadian law schools and Canadian-qualified lawyers within three years of graduation as of April 26. Papers must directly address Canadian competition law or policy, not general economics or industry competition topics.
The winner receives $2,500 plus complimentary registration and reasonable travel expenses to the Section's Annual Fall Conference where the award is presented. Only one award is granted regardless of number of co-authors.
Submissions are due annually on April 26 by mail, fax, or email to cbacompetitionlaw@cba.org. Papers must be anonymized, maximum 40 pages double-spaced. The 2026 deadline is April 26, 2026.
The CBA Competition Law Section established this award in memory of James H. Bocking, a former Competition Bureau official who contributed to Canadian competition law.
