About this scholarship

Children of New Hampshire service members who died on active duty or from service-connected disabilities may receive New Hampshire Higher Education Scholarships for Orphans of Veterans to attend New Hampshire public colleges and universities.

The scholarship is $2,500 and may be used for room, board, books, or supplies at any level of higher education at qualifying public institutions in the state. Free tuition may also be available through the University System of New Hampshire and Community College System of New Hampshire.

Confirm eligibility based on the parent's military service and cause of death, then contact the New Hampshire Department of Education or your institution's financial aid office for application instructions and required documentation.

The Legislature first established the program in 1943.
