National Trumpet Competition

The National Trumpet Competition is the leading annual competition for student trumpet players in the United States. Full-time enrolled or homeschooled students who are U.S. citizens, or international students studying in the U.S., may enter solo divisions by age and level: Junior, High School, Undergraduate, Graduate, and Jazz, plus ensemble and military band excerpt divisions.

Applicants register online (application fee $85 for solo divisions) and submit an unedited video recording of their competition piece; selected competitors advance to live semifinal and final rounds held each March.

Cash prizes for first, second, and third place include $2,000/$1,000/$500 in High School Solo and $3,000/$1,500/$750 in the Undergraduate, Graduate, and Jazz divisions. Registration for the 2026 competition ran November 1 to December 5, 2025.
