About this scholarship

Michigan women aged 19 to 25 who are high school graduates or hold equivalent credentials may compete in the National Cherry Festival Cherry Queen Program for spokesperson roles and scholarship awards.

Scholarship awards are up to $10,000. Two participants are selected through the competition.

Complete the online application from a desktop or laptop, gathering required materials before starting because the form cannot be saved mid-session. The Cherry Queen represents the festival and cherry industry at scheduled appearances throughout the year.

  • One-page resume detailing awards, hobbies, organizational memberships, future goals, etc. (required and scored; may be in outline or resume style)
  • Unedited phone video, 1 minute or less, introducing yourself to the judges including your name and where you are from
  • One color high-resolution digital headshot (at least 300 dpi)
  • Sponsor(s) authorization form and total sponsorship fee ($500 by Apr 14 / $600 Apr 15-May 5, 2025)
  • Signed Official Candidate Contract
  • Series of 3 judged interviews and 1 cherry industry speech presentation during Selection Weekend (in-person, not written)
  • Eligibility: single female resident of Michigan, ages 19-25 as of July 4, 2025, high school graduate
  • Pay the required sponsorship fee.
  • Complete three judged interviews and a cherry-industry speech presentation during Selection Weekend.
  • Selected participant must represent the festival and cherry industry at scheduled appearances throughout the year.
