About this scholarship
Open to Alberta Teachers' Association members who hold an Alberta permanent professional teaching certificate, have at least five years (or 700 days equivalent) of successful K-12 teaching in Alberta at the highest membership level possible, and are members in good standing. Applicants must be registered in a graduate certificate, diploma, or master's program in education at a recognized Canadian public university, and must complete a culminating research project (at least 3.0 credit hours) on contemporary issues affecting professional practice or public education, or on innovative approaches to teaching or school leadership. Prior recipients and concurrent applicants for the ATA Doctoral Fellowship or Belairdirect Award are not eligible.
Up to one bursary of $5,000 is awarded annually. The bursary is paid in full once proof of registration is received; recipients must provide the ATA with printed and digital copies of the completed thesis or research project.
