About this scholarship

Open to B.Ed. teacher candidates in the Elementary and Middle Years Program at UBC Vancouver whose practicum approach has been exemplary in responding to learners' specific interests and incorporating those interests into the learning context. Preference is given to students whose practicum took place in a kindergarten or early primary classroom.

Prizes totalling $2,000 are made available annually through the Nadene Carline 761 Foundation in memory of Nadene Carline (1945-2023).

Recipients are selected on the recommendation of the Faculty of Education. There is no separate application.

Nadene Carline was a kindergarten teacher in Richmond, BC, and Chair of the Board of Trustees in New Westminster, known for an exploratory, child-centered approach to teaching.
