About this scholarship
Public, private, and homeschool students in 3rd grade through senior year of high school may apply for the My Friend Linkin Scholarship as a pair: one student currently battling cancer or a survivor, and one friend or family member who provided support.
Each award is $500.
Create a joint story (400 to 800 words) or a 2 to 4 minute video about your friendship and experience with cancer, explain how you will use the funds, include one letter of recommendation, and submit materials by email.
My Friend Linkin is a nonprofit that teaches about childhood cancer through biographies of kids in its My Friend series.

- Applicants apply as a pair: one student who experienced cancer (currently battling or a survivor) and a friend/family member who supported them
- Students must be in 3rd grade through senior year of high school
- Open to public school, private school, or homeschool students
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, mentor, or community leader is required
- As an alternative to the written submission, students may submit a 2 to 4-minute video sharing the same information
- Application (written story or video, plus letter of recommendation) is emailed to myfriendlinkin@gmail.com
- Deadline July 1, 2026; winners notified by August 1, 2026
- The joint submission must address the pair's friendship, cancer experience, mutual support, and intended use of funds.
