About this scholarship
Instrumentalists and vocalists who have lived in San Diego County, Imperial County, or Baja California del Norte for at least one year at the preliminary audition, or who have been full-time registered students (12 semester units) in a college or university in that area since the preceding September, may compete in the Musical Merit Foundation of Greater San Diego's annual auditions. Instrumentalists must be at least 16 or a graduating high school senior and under 24 on the final audition date; vocalists must be at least 18 or a graduating high school senior and under 32.
Scholarship amounts vary by placement. About 12 awards are available. Annual auditions cover strings, keyboard, winds and brass, and voice.
The foundation has held yearly competitions since 1946 for students demonstrating strong musical education and skill.
