Muddy Waters Scholarship

Full-time students at an Illinois college or university who are in at least their first year of undergraduate or graduate study may apply if they are pursuing music, music education, African-American studies, folklore, performing arts, arts management, journalism, radio/TV/film, songwriting, artist legal rights, studio recording engineering, or a related field.

One competitive $2,000 award is based on scholastic achievement, field of study, and financial need. Applications open in February, with a deadline of April 30; the recipient is announced around June 10, and funds are released for the following fall upon proof of enrollment.

Submit a brief personal statement and school information online or by mail to the Blues Heaven Foundation Scholarship Committee. The program was founded through Willie Dixon's Blues Heaven Foundation to support education in blues and related fields.
