About this scholarship

Outstanding students enrolled in the M.D. program at the University of British Columbia's Vancouver campus are eligible for this scholarship, with preference for a student interested in neurodegenerative disease research. Scholarships totalling $2,000 are awarded annually. There is no student application; recipients are chosen on the recommendation of the Faculty of Medicine.

The scholarship is funded by Noriko Ide in memory of her husband Naotaka Ide, an international patent attorney, engineer and professional piano player who suffered from dementia later in life and wished to give back to the research community.
