About this scholarship

McGill University students in the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Science may compete for the Moyse Travelling Scholarships, which support a year of advanced study after undergraduate work. If there are not enough strong applicants in Arts or Science, final-year students in other undergraduate faculties or graduate students may be considered.

Two scholarships of $11,000 are awarded each year, one through Arts and one through Science. Holders devote the year of tenure to advanced study, preferably at a British or European university, though other institutions approved by the faculty may also qualify.

A full application is required, including an application form and two letters of recommendation. Shortlisted candidates must be available for interviews in early May.

The late Right Honourable Lord Atholstan founded the scholarships to commemorate Dr. Charles E. Moyse, who served McGill as Professor of English, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Vice-Principal.
