About this scholarship

U.S. citizens or permanent residents of Chinese descent who reside in eligible Southern California counties and attend an accredited U.S. college full time may apply for the Morning Light Foundation Domestic Students Scholarship. Undergraduates need a 3.5 GPA; master's students need a 3.7 GPA and at least 8 units per semester.

Each recipient receives $6,000. Recipients must attend the summer recognition ceremony in person.

Submit a 500+ word essay, transcript, two recommendations, parent tax return, and citizenship proof by April 30.

Founded in 2005 in Los Angeles, MLF is a nonprofit dedicated to helping students with financial need in Southern California and China.

  • Required in-person attendance at the award ceremony to receive the scholarship check
  • Eligibility: U.S. citizen/permanent resident of Chinese descent, enrolled full-time at an accredited institution in Southern California, minimum 3.5 GPA (undergrad) / 3.7 GPA (master's), demonstrated
  • Application is submitted as a PDF by email.
