Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplements

Active holders of a Tri-Agency Canada Graduate Scholarship (master's or doctoral) or an eligible Vanier CGS may apply for a Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplement of up to $6,000 to offset the costs of research studies outside Canada for a defined period.

About 250 supplements are available each year across CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC. You must not have held another CGS-MSFSS during your graduate studies, and you must remain registered in a Canadian graduate research program and return to finish your degree. At Dalhousie, submit a PDF of the full agency application to fgs.slo@dal.ca before the institutional deadline (competitions run twice per year).
