About this scholarship

Alabama high school seniors in selected areas, or dependent children of full-time Mercedes-Benz U.S. International team members (excluding executive management children), planning full-time accredited undergraduate or vocational study may apply for the MBUSI Scholarship Program. Up to ten one-time $3,000 awards are administered by Scholarship America.

Apply January 28 through March 12. MBUSI established the program in 2003 to assist Alabama students and dependents of team members planning to attend college or vocational school.

  • Current complete high school transcript including grading-scale explanation
  • Applicant Appraisal completed by a counselor, advisor, instructor, or work supervisor
  • List of work experience from the past four years
  • List of school and community activities, awards, honors, and offices held from the past four years
  • Essay responses
  • Complete the official paper application form (mail to Scholarship America, postmark deadline March 16)
  • Current complete high school transcript of grades, including an explanation of the grading scale (grade reports not acceptable)
  • Required Applicant Appraisal section completed by a high school counselor/advisor, instructor, or work supervisor
  • List of work experience over the past four years (employer/position, dates, hours/week, paid or not)
  • List of school and community activities, awards, honors, and offices held over the past four years
  • Eligibility: high school senior living in or attending school in Alabama's Jefferson or Tuscaloosa County, OR a dependent child of a full-time MBUSI Team Member; must enroll full-time in undergraduate
  • Financial need is not considered; selection based on academic record, leadership, activities, honors, work experience, goals statement, unusual circumstances, and appraisal
