About this scholarship

Minnesota residents pursuing an engineering or science degree with emphasis on erosion and sediment control or stormwater management may apply for the Minnesota Erosion Control Association's $1,000 scholarship.

Applicants need a minimum 2.5 GPA and may be new or currently enrolled students at any accredited college. The board may award one or more recipients annually.

Download the application form and submit it with a one-page essay on career goals to the MECA office by November 1. Proof of school registration is required before the check is released. The winner is invited to MECA's annual conference.

  • Applicant or parent/guardian must be a member of a Montana electric cooperative, and the local cooperative must be a member of the Montana Electric Cooperatives' Association (MECA)
  • Attach a copy of high school transcripts
  • Attach a copy of ACT/SAT scores
  • Resume-style list of activities in school and community, awards/honors, and volunteer service
  • List of high school and/or college employment (employer, position, weekly hours during school year and/or summer)
  • One letter of recommendation
  • Applicant's signature and date
  • Return completed application to local electric cooperative no later than January 30, 2026
  • Winner is invited to MECA's annual conference.
