About this scholarship

High school seniors, graduates, or GED recipients from eligible Brazoria and Galveston County high schools (including Santa Fe, Alvin, Angleton, Brazosport, Dickinson, Friendswood, Hitchcock, Texas City, and others) or Salvation Army Houston Adult Rehabilitation Center graduates planning to attend a Texas college or trade school may apply.

Awards are $4,000 each. The foundation offers both spring and fall application cycles.

Complete the application on the Mark Kilroy Foundation website before the deadline. The program has supported students in Brazoria and Galveston Counties for decades.

  • Anti-drug essay
  • Official High School Transcript or TXCHSE (GED) is required and must be attached
  • Scholarship Agreement (signed by hand and dated) is required
  • Letters of recommendation are optional but highly recommended
  • Community service/volunteer work summary is optional but highly recommended
  • Eligibility limited to seniors/graduates/GEDs from specific Galveston & Brazoria County, TX high schools (plus Salvation Army Houston ARC beneficiaries/graduates in the Aug 2023 version)
  • Must attend a Texas accredited college or trade/technical school; maintain 2.5/4.0 GPA and 12+ semester hours for renewals
  • Submission by mail or email; deadlines March 15 (Spring) and November 15 (Fall)
  • Letters of recommendation are optional but highly recommended.
  • Community-service/volunteer-work summary is optional but highly recommended.
  • Renewal recipients must maintain a 2.5/4.0 GPA and at least 12 semester hours.
