About this scholarship
M.D. students at the University of British Columbia's Vancouver campus who are Canadian citizens, demonstrate financial need and have an interest in supporting economically disadvantaged individuals are eligible for this award. Awards totalling $125,250 are made available each year through an endowment. There is no student application; recipients are chosen on the recommendation of the Faculty of Medicine.
The endowment was established by the estate of Margaret Rai-Choudhury, who worked in the UBC Library in the 1950s and created the award to help disadvantaged individuals and communities.
