Marc and Valerie Fishman T1D Scholarship

The Marc and Valerie Fishman T1D Scholarship, established in 2023, supports students with Type 1 diabetes entering or enrolled in programs providing direct patient care: registered nurse, nurse practitioner, advanced registered nurse practitioner, physician assistant, dietetics, physical or occupational therapy, or medical doctor (MD or DO). Students in general programs such as biology or pre-med are not eligible until enrolled in one of these healthcare programs.

Awards start at a minimum of $1,000 and may be renewable with a 3.0 GPA. Preference goes to students entering nursing programs, reflecting co-founder Valerie Fishman's career as an RN with Type 1 diabetes. A healthcare provider must confirm the diagnosis; U.S. citizenship is not required.

Applicants complete the online application with references and an essay of up to 500 words. Applications for 2026-2027 are open now and close August 15, 2026.
