About this scholarship

Maine high school seniors graduating from a Maine high school who will enroll at an accredited post-secondary institution may apply for Mainely Character Scholarships. If you plan a gap year, you must apply during senior year and already be committed to a post-secondary institution.

Award amounts vary. Selection is based solely on character, not academics or financial need.

Submit a character statement with six numbered essay sections (up to 150 words each) on courage, responsibility, integrity, and concern. Scholarships recognize students who best demonstrate these four principles of exemplary character.
