Madison Group Award in Mathematics, Environment and Ecology

For outstanding second-, third-, and fourth-year undergraduate students and graduate students studying mathematics at UBC Vancouver, with preference for students interested in environment and/or ecology.

Award amounts vary. Madison Group established the endowment in memory of founding shareholder Sam Y. Joe (1949-2021), who enjoyed fishing, prawning, and crabbing after retirement.

The Department of Mathematics recommends recipients; graduate selections involve the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. No separate application.
