Mack Eastman United Nations Prize

All students at the University of British Columbia's Vancouver campus may compete for this prize. A $450 prize is awarded for the best essay on a problem related to international peace and security or international cooperation in economic or social areas.

Students intending to compete should submit their essays to the International Relations Programme Committee. The name of the committee's chair can be obtained from the Office of the Dean of Arts.

The prize is given in memory of Dr. S. Mack Eastman, the first Head of the UBC History Department, who left in 1925 to become Chief of Research at the International Labour Office in Geneva and was instrumental in establishing the League of Nations Society. The United Nations Association endowed the prize in recognition of his work and influence.
