Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars

First-generation, low-income Florida residents admitted to UF as first-year students may be invited to the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars program after completing the FAFSA. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

The program provides a full grant-and-scholarship financial aid package up to demonstrated financial need for four years, plus mentorship and comprehensive support programming. Recipients must earn 24 credit hours each academic year.

After FAFSA submission, eligible students complete the MFOS Supplemental Form. The program addresses systemic barriers to help first-generation students thrive at UF.
