MacEachern-Ponsford Memorial Award

Dalhousie University students majoring in Geology who have completed second year, excelled in field school, hold honours-calibre academics, and take an active part in student activities may receive this memorial award. One award is available; the amount varies.

The Chair of Earth and Environmental Sciences selects the recipient after consulting the Dawson Geology Club and department staff. No separate student application is described.

The award commemorates Ian Joseph MacEachern and Mark Anthony Peter Ponsford, Dalhousie geology graduates killed in a 1984 field trench collapse, and encourages dedication to geologic field studies and safety.
