About this scholarship

Sedgwick County, Kansas residents, or students whose parents or grandparents own land in the county, with at least a 3.0 GPA may apply for the Lynn Buerki Memorial Scholarship. Applicants must enroll or plan to enroll full-time in an agricultural or natural resource conservation-related curriculum at a Kansas institution (such as agronomy, range management, forestry, geography, agricultural journalism, agriculture education, conservation science, wildlife management, or other soil and water conservation fields). Home-schooled students in Sedgwick County are eligible.

One $1,000 award is given.

Submit an official transcript and two sealed letters of recommendation (one from a teacher or professor and one from a community member; neither may be a relative). Selected students must provide a college acceptance letter to the Sedgwick County Conservation District office.

The scholarship encourages students to build technical competence and pursue careers in agricultural conservation.
