About this scholarship

Long Island and Queens high school juniors and seniors may submit an original video between 30 seconds and three minutes illustrating New York State pedestrian, bike, or micromobility safety laws and explaining why community traffic-safety education matters.

Two awards of $1,000 are offered.

AI tools may be used only for brainstorming and grammar checks, not for creating video content. Submit by May 31 at 11:59 p.m.

Walk Safe Long Island, a collaborative of Nassau and Suffolk health and transportation safety educators, sponsors this award in memory of Lowell Wolf.

  • Original video, 30 seconds to 3 minutes long, highlighting one or more New York State Vehicle and Traffic Laws for Pedestrian Enforcement
  • Video file maximum size 15MB
  • No profanity, lewd content, inappropriate material, or personal information in the video
  • AI may only be used for brainstorming and grammar checks, not for direct video/content creation
  • Open to Long Island, NY high school juniors/seniors and college freshmen/sophomores
  • Submission of both the video file and the written answer is mandatory
  • Video must be 15MB or smaller and may not include profanity, lewd or inappropriate content, or personal information.
  • AI may be used only for brainstorming and grammar checks, not to create video content.
