About this scholarship

Personal members of ALA and ALSC who are children's librarians (or have been, or are retired) with at least five years of direct work with children up to age 14, an ALA-accredited graduate degree, and written supervisor approval for research leave may apply. Organizational, corporate, and student memberships are not eligible.

The fellowship provides up to $7,500, prorated at $1,875 per week, for one to four weeks of study at the Baldwin Library of Historical Children's Literature at the University of Florida. Fellows must submit a 500-word report and present at least three public programs based on their research.

The fellowship is endowed in memory of Louise Seaman Bechtel and Ruth M. Baldwin.
