Students in the Long Island and New York area studying ornamental horticulture at a community college or four-year institution may apply for the LIFGA Scholarship. Applicants need at least a 2.0 GPA and must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen or resident, or be enrolled in an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution as an incoming sophomore or above.
The award is $5,000. The number of recipients varies each year.
Besides the online application, submit two letters of recommendation (preferably one from a teacher and one from an employer), a resume, and transcripts from your most recent school.
LIFGA established the scholarship in 2010. Its members are growers and retailers who promote research, education, and sales of ornamentals in the local market. The American Floral Endowment administers related floriculture scholarship support.
