Eligibility
About this scholarship
LGBTQ+ graduating high school students or current students at a two-year or four-year college, technical, or vocational school in New England may apply for the LGBTIQ+ OUTbio Scholarship. Applicants must be 18 or older at the time of the award, have at least a 3.0 GPA (or GED equivalent), and be pursuing a life science degree or a STEM-supporting career. Preference goes to students aiming for careers in the life sciences or STEM who have shown leadership advancing LGBTQ+ diversity, equity, and inclusion.
One $5,000 award is given annually. Funds may be used for tuition and other educational expenses.
Apply online with contact and demographic information, school history, achievements, volunteer and employment records, a 300-word maximum essay, and one letter of recommendation from a non-family member. Finalists are interviewed by the Scholarship Selection Committee.
OUTbio, the biotech industry's largest LGBTQ+ professional group, established the award to encourage LGBTQ+ young adults to pursue STEM careers, especially in the life sciences.
