Lex Mathews Scholarship

Women age 23 or older who reside within the Diocese of North Carolina and demonstrate financial need may apply for the Lex Mathews Scholarship if they are seeking specialized vocational or technical training, a degree or certification below the graduate level, or continuing education to upgrade job skills. Preference goes to Episcopalians; non-Episcopalians may apply if sponsored by a member of an Episcopal church.

Awards are $2,000; the number of recipients varies.

Apply through the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of North Carolina by the posted deadline.

The program is named for the Rev. Lex Mathews, who advocated for women's issues and led Christian Social Ministries in the diocese before his death in 1985.
