About this scholarship
For UBC Vancouver graduate students in good standing whose primary supervisor is a member of the Biodiversity Research Centre and whose research addresses the role copepods play in marine biodiversity. Research areas may include biology, taxonomy, and/or ecology.
Scholarships are made available through an endowment. Conditional on continued satisfactory academic progress, they may be renewed for an additional year of study. Recipients are selected on the recommendation of the Faculty of Science, in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
To apply, submit a brief half-page statement to the Biodiversity Research Centre that includes your thesis title and general topic and explains how your research advances the understanding of the ecology, evolution, or systematics of marine biodiversity. Preference goes to candidates working on marine copepods.
Endowed by Carolyn and Dr. Alan Lewis. Dr. Lewis was a Professor Emeritus of Earth and Ocean Sciences whose research focused on interactions between oceans and plankton.
