About this scholarship

Undergraduate physics students at U.S. colleges and universities may be nominated by their department for the American Physical Society LeRoy Apker Award recognizing outstanding research achievement.

Two awards of $5,000 are presented annually, one from a Ph.D.-granting institution and one from a non-Ph.D.-granting institution. Each recipient's physics department also receives $5,000 for undergraduate research support, plus a certificate and travel reimbursement to present at an APS meeting.

Only one nominee per department. Nominations require a department head letter, research manuscript or thesis, student-written summary, and two recommendation letters by June 2.
