Leona and John Breckenridge Memorial Scholarship in Zoology

Open to outstanding graduate students in the UBC Department of Zoology. Preference goes to students monitoring birds, marine life, or pollutants in the Salish Sea.

Scholarships totalling $2,000 are available annually through a gift from family and friends. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Department of Zoology in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Faculty-nominated; no separate student application.

The scholarship honours Leona (1950-2017) and John (1944-2017) Breckenridge and was established to support new environmental champions. Leona was an avid naturalist who trained Shorekeepers and organized large-scale garbage removal along the Nicomekl River; John volunteered at the Little Campbell hatchery in his later years.
