About this scholarship
Hawaii Island graduating high school seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA who have paddled at the club or high school level in the past three years and show academic achievement, community participation, and volunteer leadership may apply for Kai 'Opua Canoe Club's Lawrence "Uncle Bo" Campos Scholarship.
Two awards of $2,000 are paid directly to recipients for trade school, community college, or university study.
Submit the application with a recent transcript, SAT or ACT scores if available, a letter of acceptance from a further education institution, at least one recommendation from a teacher, counselor, clergy, or community supporter, a second letter from a paddling coach, and a one-page personal statement on academics, goals, background, leadership, and service.

- Personal statement must address academic program, goals, career interests, background, community activities, leadership, service, employment or relevant details; it must be original work and not AI-generated.
- Mail one complete packet to the Kai 'Opua Canoe Club Scholarship Committee.
